What is Non-Revenue Water (NRW), and why is WASPA focusing on it?

Non-Revenue Water (NRW) is water that has been treated and pumped into the distribution system but is “lost” before it ever reaches the customer. It represents a massive gap in sustainable development goal (SDG) 6. WASPA focuses heavily on NRW because these losses directly drain utility revenue, starve infrastructure investment, and restrict water access for growing urban centers like Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nakuru.
