In the bustling hub of Ruiru, greater Nairobi, Kenya, Brookside Dairy – one of East Africa’s leading dairies – faced a growing demand for water storage to support their expanding operations. With their water treatment plant producing more treated water than their existing storage system could handle, they needed an additional 2 million litres of storage capacity. The project involved the installation of four ST26/04 tanks, each with a capacity of 1,040,000 litres (4 tanks at 1 million litres each), designed to store processed water for Brookside’s milk processing factory. Within a mere 26 days, our installation team completed the build, significantly ahead of schedule, despite the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. By adhering to strict safety protocols such as social distancing, fumigation, and decontamination, our determined team ensured that the project remained on track and without delays. Brookside Dairy’s project was completed even before their plant build and connections were fully ready, a testament to our efficiency and commitment to client satisfaction.

The construction process of our tanks is a feat of engineering precision and teamwork. Each tank is assembled with the help of our efficient jacking system, erecting the steel panel rings, one-ring-at-a-time. The roof, interior liner and nozzle componentry, is secured at according to the assembly drawings and once the tank reaches its full height, the internal liner is seated to ensure that the stored water remains uncontaminated and safe. The fact that Brookside Dairy operates in the food and beverage industry meant that health and safety were paramount, and our liner system ensured that no part of the steel tank walls would come into direct contact with the water, making the tanks fully compliant with industry regulations.
The decision to move away from traditional concrete tanks and choose SBS steel panel tanks was driven by several factors. Our tanks provide a superior lifespan compared to concrete, which can crack and deteriorate over time.
